Twin Vee PowerCats, a Fort Pierce, Florida based catamaran builder for over 27 years, recently closed on the acquisition of the Tennessee-based Aquasport™ boat brand, which has been manufacturing V-bottom fishing boats for nearly 60 years. The acquisition will expand Twin Vee’s cat product line to include V-hulls, in addition to its new electric boat brand, Forza X1.

In a statement, Joseph Visconti, CEO and President of Twin Vee PowerCats, Co., said, “This product line expansion is likely to attract new customers interested in purchasing boats with such a recognizable pedigree as Aquastport.” Twin Vee also plans to utilize Aquasport’s dealer network to bring its catamarans to a broader consumer base while its 150,000 s.f. factory will help expand the Company’s production capabilities in Florida and North Carolina, where the new Forza X1 will be built.

The good news for boaters is that within one trusted brand, they can find a variety of quality-built boat models with a range of sizes and prices. Twin Vee currently offers center and dual consoles from 24-40’ – its new flagship, with an emphasis on fishing models with cruising capabilities. Aquasport has recently built saltwater center console models from 21-30’ and 23’ and 24’ bay boats. Forza X1 which is currently in the prototyping and testing mode, plans for a 22’ dual console and a center console model.

Jim Leffew, CEO, of Forza X1, built a career with Maverick Boats before joining Visconti to build Twin Vee’s production and new EV marine start up. Together the boat builder and businessman have serious plans for developing all three brands under one parent company.

Visconti acquired Twin Vee in 2015 with plans to make it attractive to Wall Street. In 2021, Twin Vee went public, trading as a NASDAQ listed company under the symbol VEEE. Leffew’s influence has already increased Twin Vee’s growth and with his leadership of Forza X1 and now the acquisition of Aquasport, the company is driven to expansion and improvement of all its products.

Though not an avid boater when he bought Twin Vee, Visconti, like most boat builders, has become passionate about manufacturing and technology during this time of market growth. His eye is not only on building for the existing customer, but also on the future of new boaters, boating lifestyles and choice of boat styles. His company began building a V-hull model to vary its offerings before Aquasport came into the picture and the electric boat and motors have been in process since Boats.com visited Twin Vee for one of its Factory Fridays tours in 2021. The continued investigation into how Twin Vee can grow, evolve and better serve its customers demonstrates Visconti’s commitment to the boating industry and community and we look forward to following the company’s progress as it expands from Florida to Tennessee on June 1 when it takes possession of the Aquasport facility and as its North Carolina space is completed over the coming year. Stay tuned.
